What I’d like to share about through this blog

I should have written or set this type of goal before I started, but I think this is an intersession week, so I better figure out right now so that I can push through the rest of my semester and future usage.

As summary of myself, I’m Korean who lives in Canada for 3 years from 2013 and currently studying at George Brown College, Interaction Design and Development program. This is my second year. I cannot believe time flies this quick.

And what I’m interested in is…

1. Curating contents

I briefly worked for the search engine company in Korea for a content researcher? I don’t know how to articulate, but my routine with co-workers was digging hidden meaningful(or ability to catch user’s eye)contents written by bloggers. Some of them were the full-time bloggers. And here I am. I’m looking at more and more contents with Tumblr, Pinterest, Instagram, Twitter etc. I’m experiencing massive information on daily basis around the world! Holy molly. So then what can I deliver with this stream? Well, I can use the skill that I had before. I’m still not good at writing but I’ll keep practicing through this blogging. Not just sharing an information which is I’m doing it right now (you know just click the ‘share’ button from facebook) but what I can do is collect them with categorization to be able to add another value of it. This will be my upcoming post for sure. No limit of topic! Yay. I have quite bit large arrangement of interest, not expert level yet though.

2. Journaling

Which is one of the main topic we can usually see from Youtube and wordpress. But I’m going to try be an informative way so that it doesn’t look too personal. I’ve posted couple of times at community website about Korean people who have a working holiday visa or plan to apply, by each posts of real Canada life that I’ve been gone through. It was very great moment to me because, recording contents either photo, video, writing transforms to new coated-content. So maybe my story how I applied a student visa in Canada, how’s regular life here, what is the popular issue here…something like this.

3. Challenges

Honestly, I’ve been lazy. So shy. Self-concious. Oh god. What makes me crazy is, I know what I’m doing and how I feel, even what would it be a solution. These days, from my new job at MEC(Mountain Equipment Co-op, Canada), I inspired by people all the time. It’s great place to observe something that I’ve never ever imagined. A lot of fun activities, energetic staffs, eco-friendly managed for the nature… That is so new to me. I’m thinking to take an action. Climbing will happen in my life, very soon. Maybe kayaking during summer.      I would like to share that how I change(or not) when I face the new activities.

It doesn’t only include about outdoor activities. Perhaps it could be a language challenge as a ESL(English Second Language).

4. Photo/Video

I should mention this. I’m so into Casey Neistat’s youtube vlog right now. It absolutely inspired me and my boyfriend. Photography has been always my hobby. I once pursued to become a photojournalist. I don’t have a fancy DSLR camera, gadget with me, but whole point of Casey’s video is about just start now and share what I perceive. My instagram account is opened and mostly uploaded of cityscape, shadows, patterns, architectural shot.. I think I should engage with more so that I could communicate with people more widely open.

* Note : I don’t think all 3 categories are not relevant. Oh yes it’s so co-related.

Okay so I should work on more for blog.

Hello Design Students all across to Canada to somewhere over the ocean.

By the way, I’m Kyung. (Hey) I’m taking an Interaction Design and Development program as a second year. What I realized (finally) this January is, design should be fun. That is all it matters. I graduated a university that I dragged 6 years to finish, because I wasn’t happy. That’s why I chose (quite bold move) to study Interaction Design which is I’ve been dreaming and dreaming for! So this time, I got to do some work. And I feel great!

So I researched upcoming opportunities you can submit to, especially for Graphic Design industry. It include, Editorial Design, Advertising Design, Interaction Design, Product Design and even UX Design.

Here’s what I would like to suggest to you, my friends.

WOW. This looks massive. And SUPER AWESOME. There are various concepts you can choose. Also, project brieft is clear with what’s going to be a judging criteria. In this type of competition, it is very important to being fully aware of submission requirements. Often, this part can be missing while you’re working on project. So make sure you have a checklist and use it during work process.

The one thing that I didn’t realize of design work before I started my program is, design thinking and ideation is also a type of a math, which is I HATED it from high school. There are A and B and problems to solve. Depends on our each individually developed skills, equation may vary as alternative solution. But I believe if you, my friend, would love to assist someone by your design, if you cannot resist to observe human’s behavior, I think we’re good. Don’t get cold feet.
